omg its so so so long since i have blogged..
okay lets go by events..

ARMY..
okay i jus finished 20 km route march, its not those normal marches..
it was an overnight march and worst thing was that part of it was in this super dense forest..omg really really shagged by the road..
hmmm i think my combat fitness dropped tremedously thanks to those inefficient hours in the medical centre enjoying the luxurious air-condition and clean toilets..
i think wat i have been thru the first 9mths of my national service life was all gone into the drain..
sorry taxpayers' money..

alright den i'm going to taiwan for this overseas exercise..
hukou camp i heard..28th may to 13 june !
i 'm not going there as a exercise troop, instead i'm under the HQ, meaning slacking..
providing medical cover for those exercising troops..
it may seem easy, but now is the hottest period earth is experiencing..
i really hope there isnt any major casualties..
esp with all my other half-F medics..
haizz i doubt they can provide much first aid to them...
pray pray pray!!! NO CASUALITIES !!

After i'm back from taiwan, my company Echo coy is having their new intake of monos...
time to check out those tattoos and listen to vulguarities from commanders and recruits..
okay so meaning after 2 weeks in taiwan, i must confine with the recruits for 2 weeks in camp? omg i hope my OC will let me go home for few days..because i will miss my family and gf like mad after taiwan !!

DRIVING LESSON
i passed basic theory and final theory recently..
but with my packed schedule, i doubt i can start my practical anytime soon..
i guess i will do it after i'm back from holland...

i'm so happy, i'm working hard towards my goals for 2009 !!

Inflation Frenzy!

Wow i'm really shocked by the impact of inflation in singapore..
Govt is doing "relatively" well in controlling..But somehow its jus not enough..
And my rational father is trying to teach me some tips on how to save money..
okay first up, we ate at kopitiam !! gosh...
not that kopitiam cannot eat la..but i jus book out le !!
nvm abt that...at least its nice..
den i was abt to pay with my $$$ den my dad flash out this blue shinning card...for a moment i thought, dad are u mad? needa pay by card?
however after a bit of scrutiny at the card, its a kopitiam card !
it entails me with 10% discount..
alright, so i saved 50cents in trying to buy a 5 bucks dish... YIPEE!

Okay den after a small event on how to save $$ by eating, my dad went to buy drinks..
he bought this can of Lemon tea..
Gosh i cost $1.70..okay so with the 0.17cents discount, its still $1.53 !!
And i can get it at the ABC shop near my hse there for 50cents!
HAHAHAHAHAHAH...den my dad gave me a "du diao" face...
hmmm maybe its best to see the price before we buy again..
HAHAHAHHAHA !! alright its funny..

we walked to bread talk...
he asked me which cake i like..
hmmm the strawberry cheesecake was seductive...

so i'm quite tune in to economics for this period..

Inflation is inevitable nowadays with the economics downturn and the oil prices rising..
Goods tend to be higher in price...
i'm sure everyone agrees..but i found out one trend..
Are the Bosses and monopolies taking advantage of this period to increase their goods and services beyond their increased in cost of production??
Quite a hot topic last yr...nicholas and i were quite pissed abt this i rmb..
Mac's ice cream cone...used to be 50cents..
it jumped to 60cents after govt reveal the inflation was 8% last yr..
does 50cents to 60cents looks like a 8% increase?
okay den a can of drink cost for the bosses is 50cents with purchase in bulk..
it cost $1.10 last yr....now $1.70..
Thats a big increase..
In all, govt can really help by controlling the prices directly?
yes its not efficient as we learn in economics( failure of market forces to determine the prices)
but then again..
its really too much...

Haiz.. i dunno why...emotions are flooding me..

Firstly, on tuesday, i went to changi airport with my fellow Spec2 medic course mate..
not to go overseas or watsoever..
It was to bid farewell to my fellow bruneians..
4 of them were here to attend our course in medic..
haizz..3 mths..we have sweat tgt...even bleed tgt during our Intravenous infusion session..
we walked 30+ km tgt in 48 hrs..
we watched movies tgt in their bunk..
we did our medical calls tgt..
hazalami is always my victim and i'm always his buddy..
he taught me about brunei..70% of their country is filled with jungle..
taught me so many things abt their country that i can even list them out !
its incredible how SAF actually fuse us tgt..
i really love them!! their army and medic tatics..
they enlighthen me with their CPR experience(breaking ribss) ETT insertion......etc etc etc etc..
seeing them to leave is really sad...

whew...hectic saturday...
hmmm friday night, chandru,zhao xuan, jason and i went to hougang to get psp..
hmm i got a red one...so hot!! =PP
anyway reached home, downloaded few games into the psp and went to slp at 3am!
gosh den woke up at 7am...
yup 4hours of slp,thats worse than being in camp..
so packed up and went to nie..
so long since i stepped there..

was stationed at nie recital studio to facilitate the thailand band and hong kong band!
yup the hong kong band got pretty girl !! the percussion SL !!!! =DDDDD
haha den thailand's piccoloist !!!!!! =DDDDDDD
anyway, i was physically there when they were practising.
i like thai's way of learning music..there is no tension, no stress in playing..
everyone enjoys the music and seems like a mutual musical sense was establisted during their playing..
time to emo they emo time to chiong they chiong..this is music, music should have feelings in it.!

okay den met up dad to eat dinner at IMM..he's so sad..home alone for a week..
1st sis as usual flying around the globe, 2nd sis in shanghai, mum and 3rd sis went holiday to shanghai and hainan island..

alright after that i went to esplanade..
remind me of etude XXXI cuz thats the 1st time i stepped in to the stage door..
and ytd was the 3rd time..
hmmm alright helped out and stuffs..
heard the competition..
thai 4th, hk 3rd, acsi 2nd and maris stella 1st..
maris stella was really good..they sounded like professional band..oh well thats partly because there is really quite a number of professionals inside..

19th birthday!

woah its hilarous!

midnight, my army mates came to wish me happy birthday ! sweet of them ! =DDD

haha so glad that my days being a infantry solider has come to an end..
As my 28km route march ended, my fate for the rest of my NS life was revealed !!

Combat medic !!
The very first thing that pictured my mind was the slack mud in my pasir laba medical centre!!
haiz but the fact is that after my 14 weeks on course i have 2 choices..
either i become like muds relaxing one corner or i will chiong out field carrying stretcher!! =((
Oh well.. in any case i think medic is really a new exposure for me ..
i really suck in my BMT and BSLC time..didnt listen to any of the medic lectures..
i dn even know how to use a FAD..
but looks like its time for me to learn !! =DDD

Dilemma which i couldnt solve
Have been recieving awards from sec sch and jc..
Outstanding CCA achievement..

Are my awards given because i really possess good leadership skills ?
Or the awards purely all talk no actions..
In fuhua band, i did nth much..
Seriously...I did not assist my dear seniors in settling up the alumni band..
I did not push the band to Gold award in SYF..
I did not create a strong culture in the band..
And lastly i wasnt a good player den..
Was the award given jus based on the position i'm holding, or because i'm the jus above everyone..
I really dunno..

So my life went to the JC phase..
Managed to get in the EXCO and hold the quartermaster position because i know i cant get president..
Oh well i think i did quite alot in njcsb..
Furthermore i really learnt alot..carrying and handling instrument i nv seen b4..
contrabassoon,harp,contrabass clarinet,alto clarinet,tenor flute and many other percussion instruments!! Still rmb buying the "bird call" with jia hao in Bras Basah!
haha..
And there i go, recieving that award again..
I nv even think i would qualify for exco when i stepped into the band..
And now i'm getting the award..
Why?
Tonnes of reasons!!
I did not ensure that everyone manage and take care with their instrument
I did not supply enuff even though when they really need those stuffs
I did not ever in my life managed to plan a schedule that Mr. Ho comments nth..
I did not ever ask abt the budget we have and overspent the band's budget!
Thats only within my jobscope..
Theres still the Exco jobscope!!
I did not motivate and assist enought to regain our GWH award !
I did not take care of my section mates
I did not ever once give my section mates good attitude !
I did not ever once support benjamin(my dearest student conductor)
I did not ever say thank you to my section mate even when they play well!
I did not appreciate all the support!!
I did not so many things !!
Never have i did..
All i can say is that i'm a fked up leader..
And the worst is that, everything can be solved and understand with jus 3 words..
And thats njc's core values: Leadership with Sensitivity..

So retribution came..
I did not get into OCS..
I think this is the real me..
I do have much leadership..
All my "actions" were mere talkings..

Ex Grandslam

As i journey through the toughest

Gosh so much to talk about..
National Service allows me to experience so much..
Good ones...Bad ones...

Had field camp on tues to thurs..
The weather was extremely hot !!!
Despite the weather, we had to carry on..
Basically how hot was it? I drank almost 6 to 7 litres of water!! And thats not counting the water i obtained from the friuts..
Worst still the field camp site was so near to a cementary!! Ghostly nights..
Here comes the worst of the bad experiences, we had to route march back to camp after field camp..
Tragic happened...
My dear platoon mate; Shaun Loh fall out...
He wasnt the only one that fall out..Numerous did..
But he was in critical condition!!
He was suffering heat stroke, whereby he is no longer sweat and his body temp is increasing!
And there he goes, he fainted..
Went onto the rover, back to company line..
However, he couldnt regain his conscious..
He was then carried to MO where he had his first temp taking, 42.5 DEGREES!!!
No kidding man!! 42.5!!
Nuh was his next stop..Under intensive care, he was back to conscious..
Stayed in ICU until ytd..
Went to visit him today morning...
He is much better..
WHEW !!

This is the first time in my life, i seen someone so close to death..
This is bad...

Had our "favourite" activity ytd!!
Some navigation test..
I doubt i can say much abt this..
Restricted i guess..
But all i can say, my detail and i been thru alot alot before we could find our checkpoint !!
Fantastic work and never-ending determination brought us so far..
So far that, we could barely remember the purpose of topo..
Anyway i was fun and frustration!!

Still on my bed, i was thinking of weird topics..
How is society going to remunerate us for our sweat in this 2 vital yrs of their life..
How can the society condone such actions taken by china government..
Who is going to be next potus..

I used to think that these questions and answers were mere examination-oriented statements.
That one could only see these in GP papers, Newspaper, Time, Economics...
How hard can these topics hit me??
Native..These could well impact me in near future..

Platoon IC on 2nd day..
Got F***ed when my platoon mate lost his rifle to Sir..
Did well enough the rest of the day to not get F***..

Rained heavily on 3rd day..
Was sleeping uncomfortably whole night..
When the cold wind blows, my body aches, especially my heart..
Families and friends i miss all of u..

New platoon commander from RJC, led us to eastern-end of tekong..
Had an emotional talk, it brings out the importance of NS..
Some of us teared..Most were feeling pain..But its pain that allows us to gain..
And the day went on despite feeling extremly lethargic..

Went to new campsite..
Was sylvia's birthday..Wanted to call her using sergent's phone but i couldnt impress my PS enough..
Sorry sylvia !
And my platoon did lots of stupid things..
Lost couple of things..
And we couldnt find it..

Last day we were damn high..
Marching songs were never so loud and energetic as before..
Because we know, toilet is nearing us..
We went back to campsite to search for the lost item..
And my PC indeed impressed me with his sheer determination, when we finally found the lost item..
And i know, from den onwards, he is someone i will respect..

Field camp rocks..National service is important..
i learned alot from field camp..

NS somehow changes my lifestyle..

JC education are meant to accept those with higher intelligence right??
with better results in Olvl, JC kids are suppose to perform in higher standard..
but somehow in NS, my perspective changes 180 degrees..
indeed many JC ppl wanna impress OCs, Sergents so that they can admit to commanding schs..
but i cant imagine how reckless and stubborn are many..
EVERYTIME, JC ppl will try to act smart..
which is not the way things work in real life..
NS is a learning process..and Not for JC ppl to try to act smart...
this is damn irritating la..

AND JC ppl are damn selfish too!!
its bunk cleaning..not "ur cupboard area" cleaning..
settle ur own stupid corner and u leave the other places untouched..
so selfish..

Yes i'm a jc kid too..
but i know.. ITE and Poly are nice and intellgent ppl !!

Sister's wedding is happening and quite sad to see my sis married to another family..
and i have 2 more sisters to go..

Prom night..even though i went there extremely late, but an hour of photo taking was jus enuff to express my gratitude to all the frens i have make in njc..

Post prom party.. was extremely happening.. first time i danced in a club.. and probably the first time i dance until so high..

The biggest event of my life @ post prom party was totally a success... =DDD

Bash by Nanyang business school @ butterfactory was very happening too..
haha dance only a while but i learnt alot about drinking..jean perrier , whisky dry, lamborgini, cowboy.. lol to all the fancy names..

Mr. Loh passed away..
i cant believe still..
i seriously cant..

Remember the first day he took us..
he dont even needa flex and all his muscles were popping out..
all of us were amazed by his thigh and calf muscles..
still rmb i asked him how he transform to that..
issit like some transformers?
he told me discipline..
he do 200 pull ups a day..
And he has a nickname call Small Mr Tong(a much bigger and muscular pe teacher)
trust me mr loh, ur muscles are much more defined and powerful..

Hmmm his pe lessons were very tatical..
he taught us skills in bball..
and taught us skills like Zone defence(which we still use in bball, even in soccer) and screening...
though sometimes we jus get too engrossed and ignored the skills..
but we have to admit that the skills he taught are very very useful !

regrets...
Mr. Loh!!! why u left without us ?!!!
still rmb during Alvl period, when our legs were itchy for soccer...

Yes this is my messy yet power plus zai study table.. =DD

Ok i'm begining to love A level..
Not that i really love studying.. But i love the feeling when i see questions that i can answer!!
Especially when they are questions that i previously don't know..
Den i managed to mug hard enough and apprehend it!! =DD
I really love Physics paper 3 and Math paper 1 !!
Totally gonna pwn the paper !
Hmm GP was quite stunning..
Especially the hottest topic every year-Science and Technology didnt come out !!
haha and most heart-warming thing was that the topic-Renewable Energy that i predicted came out !!
Was happy when i saw it..but didnt know if i catch the gist of the essay..
OMG ya comprehension was like shit..
i doubt anyone has good and concrete examplesss for the application question..
Does Sex Discrimination happens in large extent in singapore ??
i doubt so..i almost wrote the 377A but found that it wasnt of much use..

As a whole, A Level is quite smooth so far..
Hope that other papers can be as well..

which means, i have only 25 days to laxing after Alvl..
Which means i cant earn my 1.5k to buy trumpet..
which means i cant woo her..
which means i cant prepare for SAT sufficiently..
but that means i can get out of NS long before University starts.
which means i can laxing for mths and get my needed materials..
which also means i can take theory in NS and practical when i'm out..
which means i can go university with my Madza 6..

This is gonna be fun man !!
Its a once in a lifetime for me to play songs like fantasy variation,internal combustion and machu picchu !!
gonna cherish all the time and notes i will be playing on that day !

I really love today's prac..

hmmm jus gotta back some of my results..
Failed phys and GP badly..
hmm passed my chem and math..
Heard my whole class failed econs..

am i sad? frankly i'm not..
more of disappointment den sad..
i think i studied for subjects like chem,phys and math..
oh not even though i didnt put in my 100% but haizz..its still rather disappointing to achieve U and Es for them!
this is so not cool..
thought many have said passing is good, cuz majority of ppl are failing..
but i'm not studying to pass..
screw big time for Common test 2 ! =(

Another to be disappointed is etude..
haiz..very disappointed with my playing and the whole band's playing..
yes we may be invited to play for presentation night, band fiesta and Band association directors convection..
i'm sure its a blessing in disguise..

History of NJC Band:
Firstly NJC Band is the First Junior College band ever in Singapore under the baton of Associate Prof. Ho as better known as the Teacher of conductors in Singapore, since 1969..
Etude is the first ever sch band concert in Singapore held annually, with PM Lee and his Wife Ho Ching as the first few batch of players in the band..
Over the years, NJC Band has produce numerous great professional players like Kenneth Lun, Rasuall, jus to name a few..

Etude
Etude is a french word..Yes French is the common language use for music..
Ok Etude has the meaning of Knowledge of Music..
So having Etude as a concert, it basically means that NJC Band is presenting our knowledge of music in a short piece of repertiore..
We hope to share our knowledge of music with u guys and spread our love and passion of music many others..!!

Ok let me introduce to u some of the big pieces in Etude XXXII

Chorale and Shaker Dance
It is a very old piece, composed in 1972, based on the famous tune, Simple gifts..
Or better known in its variation, The Lord of the Dance..
It is one of the few band works which breaks itself from the norm of band works..
because it involve a more different type of chord works which was previously known as clash chords..This style of composition is known as Avant-garde - a Genre synonymous to New Age..

Thames Journey
DEBUT IN SINGAPORE!!
This is a british composition !
It tells u how a river flows from the inner region of England out to the English channel..
On the journey out, several stories took place and recalling of the rich history of England was captured in the song as well..
And if u are there, listen out for the famous London Bridge is falling down tune ! =)

Fantasy Variations
It is a Variation of a theme by Niccolo Paginini..
With jus a simple theme, its presented into 20 different variations of the tune in this piece..
oh in this 20 variations, it features solis from all sections and solos for some sections..
Highlight for this piece, is our Band major, Shermin Tay, playing a Contrabassoon, cost $60000!!
She is also the Bassoon principal player in Mus'art Wind Orchestra! =)

Internal Combustion
2nd Debut after SYF 2007 !
Yes this is the piece that NJC band played for SYF 2007 which awarded us GOLD award!
This is totally a classy !
U have to hear this !!
It involves 100 Bars of Mixmeter(all different Time signature)..
I would dare to say, no band in singapore can play it like NJC band does !!
so please come and listen to this super piece !! =)

Stage Band
Firstly, lets get the facts right..
Stage Band consists of only instruments, Trumpets, Saxophones, Trombones, Guitars and Percussion..
As far as i know, Only NJC Band has a Stage Band..
VJC and TJC have a rather modern Stage Band as they include instruments like Clarinets and more..
Anyway this year's NJC Stage Band is rather different from the previous years..
This year it will be in a form of skit..
Yes a little copying from TJC, but ours is a little different..
So come to find out wats different !!

This is a Japanese choral music..
but was arranged in Band version! =)
In this song, it features my solo !!
lol not very main point..
anyway, this is the only pop song we are playing..
By the way, this was the song sang during a Combined School Choir Concert last yr july !
And NJC band was invited to boost the whole sound of the concert ! =)

Machu Picchu
A perfect piece composed by Satoshi Yangisawa !!
A rising Composer!! With songs like Hymn to the Sun with the beat of mother earth and Cavetowns!!
with Fantastic balance of importance between the winds, brasses and percussions !
And in this piece, notice how tiring is the piece, ultimate range of notes with little bars of rest!
This piece was made famous by TJC band who won the National Band Competition last yr ! =)

ok first day! i think i did smt quite touching for a fren !

OMG tjc's concert rocks man !!
Despite not getting GWH this yr, gosh their concert is definately a GWH one..

VJC band.. hmmm sorry but i have to say ur concert was not as enjoying as TJc la..

arghhss... damn pissed off jus now..
was taking bus 66.. den gosh so so crowded !
but with a second glance! oh crap, a gal got so much space to move, but yet she sticks her legs onto the ground like mad..

so irritating.. the bus was packed like mad and yet dun wan to move..

but today was fun ! we had our FIRST STAGE BAND PRACTICE !!

Superstitious is super super duper uber difficult !

worst still, my solo is gonna last for 26 bars++ !!

DIAMOND IS A GIRL'S BEST FRIEND!!!
hmm after hrs of mugging and slping, my family and i went to IMM..
Primary purpose is to eat, however, when we reached IMM, my family's gals suddenly changed their mood!! Diamond Frenzy !!
ok they went leehwa,poh heng, SK and 1 more whose name i have forgotten..
Cause 1st sis is having wedding dinner this yr end..And my 3rd sis is spending her 21st bdae this yr !
And is my family's custom to give a Key to a gal a key when she reaches 21..
so my 3rd sister received a Key with a uber small diamond in between..
My 1st sister.. she gotten a 0.92 carat diamond from her hubby and a 0.42 diamond necklace from my parents!!
hmmm so wats so great about diamond? beside being a shiny little stone without impurities on it, i dun see wats the big deal la..
ohh den i was walking around and knowing more abt the trade of buying a diamond ring..
i found out smt which i think EVERY GAL should know, or rather EVERY GUY should know!

The price of diamond is determine by the size, i think every one should know that..
The sizes that u are likely to find are like 0.21, 8.32, 0.73, 0.93...
notice smt?? all the 2decimal place of the diamond size is ALWAYS lesser den 0.05 or rather, close to 0.01 to 0.03..
this is because, the price of 0.21 and 0.29 carat diamond is the same; in the big diamond market..
so that means diamonds which have the size of 0.29, 0.59 are normally not seen in the jewellery shop !!!!
so so, when u buy diamond, try to find the one with the biggest 2 decimal place ! =p
gosh i feel so proud knowing this!!

my life is hilarious !

Band
Syf for secondary sch has ended..
the results were totally stunning and yet expected..
Firstly.. the number of Gold With Honours dropped from 13 to 3..
Numerous schs also dropped from Gold to silver and even GWH to silver..
this is extremely alarming to the music scene of singapore..
nevertheless, looking from another perspective..
this actually may inevitably help to improve singapore's music scene..

Gold seems rather prestigious... but have the bands really got wat it takes to be a Gold band ??
in the past.. a band which play a song Grade 5 and above, without a technical mistake will get Gold..
And a band with additional good tone will get GWH..
Now, a band must have good tone, emotions and really nail all the technical stuffs well to get gold..
and a band which stands out from the rest will get GWH !

this, however, to be seems better..
some bands are really those which can play thru a grade 5 song..den the judges feel, woah grade 5, gold la gold la..
now its different, u must be able to play the song well!!
so with this, conductors have to really work harder to really secure a good result..
and hence increase the standard of singapore bands..
ya jia you singapore !!! =D

the result seems rather daunting to njcsb..
everything they are looking for, emotions, technical probs and tone, all seems to be njcsb weakness !!
the horizontal music is there..
everyone can and must be able to play the horizontal part..
bt the way we gel our vertical part is so so crucial..
its jus like gel-ing ur hair..
really stick tgt..

oh my gosh oh my gosh !!
Clarinet Tutor !!
he is freaking freaking freaking freaking pro la..!!

ok jia hao didnt come..
he sprained his ankle or smt la..
den morning had brass sectional..
woah that yingxu din want to conduct..
so i conducted the brass la..
hmm from mr ho place the brass actually sound very nice..
din come to realise that..
ya den touch up on several parts which involve brass as a whole..
den cleaned some rhythm parts too..
so glad to hear from ppl that the brass sectional was benefical..
brass sectional is very very important..
it really exposes how a brass section tongue and the pitching of various sections..
uniform tonguing and much other aspects have to be done to achieve a very very strong brass section..
=)

ok den lesson as per normal..
i was very tired today..
thanks to the band prac ytd night ..

den the clarinet tutor was late..
thanks to LTA..
crap LTA dunno doing wat.. make the roads in njc so complicated..
den the tutor couldnt find his way here ! =(
but eventually thanks to my effort to meet him at the bus stop.. and BOARDED HIS CAR ! den led to njc !! cool man !! his car got like 50 CDs of band songs la..
SSO, boston pops......... damn cool !
ok den he's very frustrated over the road thingy..but i managed to calm him by saying sorry so many times..
never in my life i say sorry so many times to a person !

ok he checked everyone's tone..
den he set up his clarinet..
he played 2 scales like 1 count per note..
den run a bit..
den he warm up with FLIGHT OF BUMBLEBEE !
hilarious ! !! flight of bumblebee to show the section alternate fingerings !
ok den i analyse the clarinet parts with the tutor..
gosh i have nv in my life see notes like high high A high high G in my life la..
there are like 5 lines above the 5 lines !!
damn stress for clarinet..
i really mean it.. stress!
den got one part.. the tutor was like: woah?!
LOL even SSO tio stun by the song..
this song should be graded 7 la ! =x
ok den the most pro thing is he created many many alternate fingerings for the section..
cuz all the notes are flying above..
den sharp and flat everywhere..
den he test and recommend fingerings la..
wah more in tune sia..
den wah cant believe he can tongue so fast..
and his running notes are insanely smooth and no gaps between !
i think for a clarinetist to reach that stage is very very impressive le..

ok grades so far...

past few days were very exciting..
but ya, like usual, i cant squeeze everything inside..

lets talk abt today..
i found out that things we JC ppl learn in our subjects are very much applicable to our life..
ECONS!!
haha those who know wats multiplier effect on GDP and stuffs when a initial amount of funds is pumped into the economy..
it works the same for friendship and love..
for example, a guy give a gift to his galfren..
den the galfren will feel very delighted..and happy of cos..
she will return a small amount of love she gotten or even more..
this is however, dependent on the love bonding both of them have..and that no withdrawls are present-such they are couple!
For example,chemistry..if the bond is Ionic,covalent or metallic, obvious the love she returns would be much more..and if the bond is H-bonding, Td-Id or Pd-d, the love returned is rather small..

hmmm i think i have talked abt this some time ago..
since then i was BM of fuhua..though childish and egoistic but this principle of mine still stays strong in me..
Discipline..Mr yong has got it all! he's the most disciplined and principled person i ever seen..
achieving goals which may seem intangible for normal ppl...
reaching out beyond urself to a blackbody radiation[Black hole],HAHAHA NIC SURE LAUGH HERE..
yet our class, 06s05 disappointed him..
inability to hand in all tutorials in time and the quality of work is poor as well..
this sucks...seriously.. but At least i realise it and willing to change..

Being in the top of the league, with all the authority in ur hands..
wat should u do to the weaker-ranked members in the league?
abuse ur authority, going against wateva u have said?

Internal Combustion is way easier to master than Machu..
but the style of playing and ability to change our feel is difficult..
moreover, looking at notes flying 4 to 5 lines above the norminal 5 lines is damn scary for clarinets..

hmmm today.. kinda great day for me..
hmmm woke up a little late..den took bus with ernest to sch..
hmm i guess both jia hao and i was late-being a QM..
anyway nvm..
yup..den had sectionals..
i'm begining to like the tone of my trumpet section..
instead of working towards having a very demure and sweet tone..
we are working towards to a symphonic tone first..
den after slowly learn how to change when needed..
hmmm technically we are well done la..
jus needa improve on articulations and balance..
3rd trumpets need to provide the base ! if not how to fly..
we need ur initial energy ! =)

hmmm worked on safari..
during sectional we were very good... in terms of tone and articulation..
only when combine, the section screw up the rests... zzzzz
hmm internal combustion..
i found that all the chord structure in the songs are tangible easily..
u jus needa play out with a broad tone, tuning is almost negligible..

hmmm den after band prac, was raining...wasnt heavy at the start..

DEBUSSY ROCKS !
hahaha we will make sure we are the best band on the concert day ! =) =)
alright the day started with breakfast at JP..
den njc was like the last few bands to be there.. hahaa..
anyway after that we were split to our respective bands..
ermmm take attendence and stuffs..
and was games..
hahha so many njc in Debussy but none same game group as me..
nevertheless, it was fun..

den was lunch..haha aishay njc lead the way for them to the canteen..

hahaha.. chen lu from SWO..hahha keep telling me i sharp i flat..
haha was quite fun though..
can pitch all the stupid high notes..
ohhh den after the prac, Chen lu was transferred to Bizet..heard the trumpeters couldnt kope with their pieces..

have been doing quite a lot of math this week..
cant imagine i really do hwk during holiday..
my stereotype is that, holiday=FUN and band..
but this holiday is rather different!
i have not been band-ing real much..
cancelling the week where i have to go sch everyday ..
ya seriously..
however things are working out quite well for me though..
trumpet is jus a instrument anyone can master, as long as u practise with heart..
rhythm is nothing but math...
tone is nothing but sweet..

studies still a bit lag..
i love math totally last time..

ok long time no blog..
i cant even rmb wat was my last post..
ok i think its abt grad night..
ok this week.. ain the best and most exciting week i have..
had band prac on wed..
did machu picchu and set piece..
crap mr ho conducted machu picchu at a very fast tempo..
a bit scary..
ya den couldnt play properly despite hefty loads of practices..

JOE HAS FALLEN WITH GRACE..
was having fever and flu on sat..
but managed to recover on sunday for graduation night !!
hmmm swissotel is damn nice la..
even the preparation room is so cool..but stolen some tea packs..

Hilarious week!..

had band everyday since monday..
stage band, main band and NIE band..
stage band was damn screwed..ermmm sorry to the council first..
ya we will make sure we put up a good performance on the prom itself ! =)
main band as normal..ppl go holiday den they band is smaller..

nie band was good...get to train alot today !

Sunrise and Safari..

1st movt: Singapore Sunrise..
Tempo: 80
Based on the theme of Ikan Kekek..Thats commotion abt this piece..well, when i look at the score..i'm damn afraid for those silver and bronze band.. Senza Misura or Ad lib isnt smt u see in every song.. However after 1 band prac with band today..i have come to realise that its not the Senza Misura they are testing on.. instead, its the tuning, the COLOUR of the movt..
no dobut, Senza misura will serve to differentiate the GWH and Gold bands.. but in my opinion, the tuning and colour of the song is much more important den the Senza misura..Orchestra colour of the song is important.!

From example, Mr. Ho pointed out today..
In bar 3 of Sunrise.. the horns and trombones are playing the melody.. So when u think jus play is enuff.. nope..its the colour of the horns and trombones.. the way the blend..the way their tone merges..hope bands can really do a good job to ensure high score..One of the most important part in the 1st movt is definately the 3rd Trombone and Tuba..basically the brass have to provide endless flow of melody and Winds being the bird have to chirp TOGETHER and with uniform tonguing..

Kim Seng wind symphony concert @ Raffles hotel, Jubilee hall have ended..
finally..my struggle and tire-ness in kim seng have ended..
the agony during the lonely trip to tiong bahru from njc has come to an end..

hmmm the concert wasnt much of a success in terms of music...
not that we played badly..
but i'm sure everyone in kim seng would agree that we played better in band room..
nevertheless, we felt great during the concert..
hahaha..brampy and see siang's solos were fantastic..

but i wasnt.. it was in the morning..
so benjamin conducted the band..
wah lao his tempo super super super slow..
thats not a bad point...at least we get to familiarise our parts better..
but he eventually need to learn how to conduct correct tempo and not slow down..

ermmm den EXCO had meeting with Mr leong..

firstly, i would definately propose to make them more involved in all the activities..

instead of EXCO handling, make the band to do the job as well..
Secondly, i think outing really works well..
provided activities planned are use friendly..
there are many other ways...i'm sure..
and thats for the EXCO to think and EXCO to do it..

the eagle feeling eager to soar for greater heights..
is quality over quantity the key to our success?
i dun think band works that way...we really need the manpower..
nevertheless..i dun feel discouraged..
i'm sure i can make my section(trumpets) the top few or even best for SYF nxt yr..
i have the confidence..
and i hope other sections too have it.. =)

Machu Picchu - City in the Sky
The mystery of the hidden Sun Temple..
Satoshi Yagisawa, Composer.

Explaining the significance of Machu Picchu begins with remebering the Incan empire at its zenith, and its tragic encounter with the Spanish conquistadors. The great 16th century empire that unified most if the Andean South America had as its capital the golden city of Cuzco. Irresistible to Francisco Piazrro, while stripping the city of massive quantities of gold, in 1533 he also destroyed Cuzco's Sun Temple, shrine of the founding deity of the Incan civilisation.
While that act symbolised the end of the empire, 378 years later an archeologist from Yale University, Hiram Bingham, rediscovered "Machu Picchu", a glorious mountaintop Incan city that had escaped the attention of the invaders. At the central high point of the city stands its most important shrine, the Intihuatana, or "hitching post of the sun", a column of stone rising from a block of granite the size of a grand piano, where a priest would "tie the sun to the stone: at winter solstice to insure its seasonal return. Finding the last remaining Sun Temple of a great city inspired the belief that perhaps the royal lineage stole away to this holy place during Pizarro's conquest.
After considering these remarkable ideas I wished to muscially describe that magnificent citadel and trace some of the mysteries sealed in Machu Picchu's past. Three Principal ideas dominated the piece: 1) the shimmering golden city of Cuzco set in the dramatic scenery of the Andes. 2) the destructiveness of the violent invasion, and 3) the re-emergence of Incan glory as the City in the Sky again reached for the sun.

alright long post...so ya..

1ST DAY!
well, we meet up at harbour front mrt..
ermmm around 10 ppl only..den christine and deyao late..
so we decided to have our lunch and meet them later..
so we went Vivo city and we had Carl's jr!
nic and i shared 1 burger and the fries...hahaha damn shiok la..
after which, deyao and christine arrived...
so we set off to Sentosa!
hahah went to sijori resort, put our bags at counter..
den chiong to the beach..
hahah thinking how come we can afford to stay at sijori resort? 296 per night?
hahha cuz jai hao's dad and mum both members..den wah lao got 3 nights free..
so we have 2 rooms first night and 1 room 2nd night..
hahha ok back to the beach... we rent bicycles to ride around Sentosa..
hahah yuting, michelle and christine cant cycle..
so we taught them..hahah chien wei damn pro in teaching..
manage to get christine riding in 10 mins..
well yuting and mich a bit slower..damn fast learner too..
hahah den sulwin damn funny.. learnt it like last week den quite pro alr..
alright after 40mins, jiahao,deyao, nic and i want to chiong half of Sentosa..
so we chiong..hahha jia hao chiong b4 last time..
so we follow..
wah lao den i last man..knn the Blur line bus was like so fast behind me..
den i chiong..damn hiong..hahaha well den down slope helped us..
wheww..
was damn fun..
den we return bike like 10 mins late..
den 1st crap! the bike owner want us pay 30 mins worth of rental..
totally crap la..
was damn pissed off..
well cant believe la..my class ppl the heart to nice la..
den we sorta get cheated..
hahah alright after that, chien wei, christine and steffi went to play the lunge thingy..
woah damn cool..
but we resting..
hahah well after that we very tired..so check in to the resort..
ermmm ok quite nice..
den I FINALLY LEARN HOW TO PLAY BRIDGE!

ermmm ya since Vivo damn near us..
so we decided to go Vivo eat and watch movie..
hahah we ate @ kopitiam and watch MONSTER HOUSE IN 3D!
hahah we get a free 3D glass.. hahha damn cool..
den all the effects were damn nice...
really feel 3D lo..
ya den steffi and yuting went home...
hahah the rest of us went back Sentosa..7 guys,4 gals..
ermmm we chiong Bridge, taidee, chips and drinks all night..
until 230am..
den i know tml got band..so nic and i went to slp first..
jiahao and tim wanna play...so ya they played and slp at 4am..

2ND DAY
hahah den all of them wanted to watch sunrise..[act goong]
den 6am go beach..hahah left me and deyao..slping.. =x =x
ahhaha den they come back around7am..den nic's face black...cuz sun doesnt rise from South ! hahha
ok quite crap..
ok den 4 of us changed to Nj attire..
den go njc for band..
hahah YAY saw shermin in front of me so i run like mad..den hehe reach b4 she does...
ok den Mr. Ho din come again..
haiz...but he drop shermin a email..
he say he miss us! hahah gay...but we are touched..
hahaha so we played Machu Picchu whole band prac..
shermin work the behind parts..wah lao eh the notes all so high and slow..den i play until face like tomato la..
ok den band prac was damn fun..
after band had band Exco meeting..
abt the Tune in la..
haha after everything, 4 of us meet jiang at sch..
and isaac at Harbour front den go Vivo meet the rest of the non band ppl in Vivo..
hahah we went Ben & Jerry! hhah ate Merlionster..
hahaha damn ex but damn nice la..
super..somemore the gal at the counter so cute...hahaha ! ok jk..

we went to watch the musical thingy..

so ya we went Vivo AGAIN! den ate at kopitiam AGAIN..

so ok nvm! lets go get a drink at 7-11..
well the whole world knows that 7-11 is meant to be 24HRS! freak!

den OKAAYYY... so we plan to take the sijori resort bus back...free mah..
we wait and wait.

ok so with that, we went back chalet play games..

hahha and we slp!
shiok...until 9am in the morning!
hahha quite fun..
ya den jus reach home...damn awake..cuz i manage to get 7 hrs of slp @ chalet!

hmm most of the ppl will choose conformity..

haha this documentary shows u the first dragon body found on earth..
it was found in romania..
gosh the mum and son..
quite shocking..
they even show how the dragons actually have flamethrower ability..cool!

gosh...
1st trumpet, 2nd, 3rd and fugelhorn are so different la..
every part is so important..
ya so we work on rhythm and balance..
basically to give them a glimpse of how difficult the song is as a section..
pity lynna..fugelhorn is difficult in terms of expression and stuffs..
work hard ya!

after sectional, we had a small combine session..
haha quite cool..shermin can conduct machu picchu quite well..

wheww... OP is over..
this marks the end of my year as a student..
haha...now that everything is done..i can finally start my band life and of cos revision life..
hmm i need to work hard for trumpet..seriously.. i cant beat Tjc and Vjc trumpeters la..
they are jus too good.. i needa pick up fast from mr lim and teach fast to my section..
yes! =)

ermm i din do well for promos..
that is why i cant be OGL nxt yr!
no chance to meet cute gals from J1s le!!! =(
haha jk...no chance to promote band to J1s.. thats the ulterior motive in it..
well.. most important, i cant enjoy myself..
hmm come to think abt it ... i dun think i am capable enuff to be a good OGL as well..

so many comments on racial politics..
i dun think govt can do much abt such controvesial topic..
though views on them are so strong and persuasive..
but have they compare s'pore and other countries??
wars between races and religion are so pronouced in other countries..
the most famous among teenagers like us is Sri lanka...
as the matter of face, we learnt it in social studies..
the tamil tigers are still fighting hard...
looking at s'pore..
this bloody act seems intangible in s'pore..
i still smile to my malay neighbours, indian frens..
they smile back to me all the time..
yes no doubt, chinese being the dominanting grp does ostracise other races at times..
this is so inevitable..
well at least s'pore does not turn bloody.. =)
really hope there is an end to such insensible act..
